Founded in 2015, Liquid Gold Investments, henceforth LGI, is the winner of the B&R Beurs Optiver Investment Competition 2016. It consists of 30 members studying at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam who are passionate about investing and are focused on a career in the finance industry. The members are from diverse academic backgrounds (e.g. Financial Economics, Finance & Investments, (Business) Economics, Fiscal Economics, Business Administration) and 17 different nationalities. LGI engages in short- and medium-term positions in commodities, currencies, and derivatives, in addition to a value-investing approach in securities.
While LGI meets every two weeks to exchange thoughts about potential opportunities in the financial markets and propose new positions, th Industry Focus Groups meet weekly. Meetings are planned around vacations and exam weeks. Social activities are usually linked to the meetings, as the group partakes in B&R-organized events, such as their biweekly “borrels” or drinks, and self-organized events, such as laser gaming, escape rooms, and more. Furthermore, both team-building and career trips are organized throughout the year. Different workshops make sure that our members have the necessary know-how to be able to find the best investing opportunities.
